Princess Cruises Elevates Australia And South Pacific Travel With New Itineraries, Longer Stays And Expanded Regional Access

Princess Cruises has announced its summer season deployment for the 2027-2028 period in Australia which will see the arrival of three of its biggest ships, Royal Princess, Grand Princess and Sapphire Princess, in the area. The schedule includes seventy-nine departures across sixty-four distinct itineraries, ranging from quick coastal hops to forty-three-day immersive journeys. This is a wide-ranging programme designed to cater to both first-time cruisers and seasoned passengers, offering unprecedented flexibility in how people choose to explore Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.

Whether you’re after a quick escape or a deep-dive around the region, the new season offers something for everyone. Short three-day cruises will satisfy those seeking a brief coastal break, while longer 43-day voyages allow for immersive travel.

The jewel of the season is the 94-day Circle Pacific sailing aboard Grand Princess. Guests can embark from a variety of Australian or New Zealand ports. From there, the ship traverses the South Pacific, heads to the North American coast, with time in Alaska, before crossing to Japan and Southeast Asia, eventually returning to the region.

Such a voyage offers a rare opportunity for travellers interested in an epic ocean passage, blending multiple cultures, geographies, and experiences, from tropical islands to northern wilderness to Asian cities.

For those who want to experience Australia in depth, there are full-circumnavigation sailings of the continent. The season also includes South Pacific cruises to idyllic destinations such as Fiji and Vanuatu, and voyages to New Zealand (Aotearoa).

Adding to the variety, some itineraries will feature late departures or overnight stays in vibrant urban hubs such as Hong Kong, Singapore and Bali (Benoa), giving passengers more time to soak up local culture ashore.

A notable aspect of the 2027–28 deployment is the return of Princess Cruises to Western Australia. The Sapphire Princess will be homeported in Fremantle, making Princess the only large, premium cruise line with a homeport in WA for that season.

This offers Western Australian passengers, as well as international travellers willing to start there, easy access to both domestic coastal cruises and international routes. It reflects Princess’s responsiveness to continuing demand for cruises in that region.

Onboard, passengers can expect the established hallmarks of a Princess cruise: world-class dining, entertainment, spas, pools, fitness facilities and the line’s signature hospitality.

This blend of comfort and discovery means travellers don’t just pass through destinations, they experience them meaningfully, with time ashore and curated moments that could make a holiday feel personal and memorable.

For passengers:

The 2027–28 season seems clearly crafted to respond to what travellers increasingly seek: flexible travel windows, immersive experiences, and the ability to combine relaxation with meaningful exploration.

For travellers like me, who cherish capturing destinations in depth, telling stories of landscapes, cultures, and journeys, these itineraries open up exceptional possibilities. A 94-day Circle Pacific crossing could blend Pacific atolls, Alaskan wilderness, Japanese heritage and Southeast Asian vibrancy into a single odyssey. Full Australian circumnavigation or South Pacific escapes give access to both iconic and lesser-known destinations.

Fremantle as the home-port has once again put WA on the map, which is often neglected because of the East Coast, in the world cruise itineraries. Besides, the route through New Zealand, Pacific Islands and Southeast Asia is mixed and thus very flexible and creative for a traveler from Asia or Europe wanting to visit Down Under.

Princess Cruises’ 2027–28 Australia & South Pacific season offers a compelling invitation, whether you’re a seasoned cruiser or someone planning your first voyage. With 79 sailings, 64 itineraries, and everything from quick getaways to a grand 94-day odyssey spanning multiple continents, it presents flexibility, variety and depth.

For travellers longing for more than the usual holiday, for those seeking stories, landscapes, culture and meaningful escapes, this season could offer unprecedented value. For anyone ready to cast off and discover the breadth and beauty of Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, Princess has positioned itself as a gateway to adventure, discovery and unforgettable memories.
